Dear Parents/Guardians:
I hope this message finds you all enjoying your summers.  Summer can be the best time of the year to spend quality time with family and friends and forget about school for a bit. While I certainly hope you are having a relaxing, fun summer; I also hope that all SFC students are doing some daily reading to keep their minds exercised and fresh!
Each school year our students have the choice to reinvent themselves.  What we accomplished last year may have been great, but no one can rest on past accomplishments alone.  With each new school year we have the opportunity to make a fresh start- learn from mistakes, build on past progress and develop new strengths.  I want to encourage all students to participate in our school community by becoming involved in a variety of activities such as, clubs, sports, or chorus, as well as other events and happenings that are taking place throughout the school year.  We want you to show your Cabrini Pride and most importantly to be an upstanding school citizen.  I am honored to be your principal and am excited about this upcoming school year
I want to invite parents, guardians and family members to get involved both here at the school and in partnership with your child’s educational experience. Working in partnership, we will make 2017-2018 a great school year.
Please review our parent/student handbook (attached) and on the website.  This is a great resource.  It provides information such as academics at school as well as arrival and dismissal procedures and the discipline policy.  Keep it handy for reference throughout the year.  Also attached to this letter, you will find a list of our staff members along with their grade and room assignments.
Since the last day of school some changes were made including staff and homeroom assignments including adding another 3rd and 4th grade. Please know that we understand change can be difficult for our students and we have tried to be mindful of that.  With that being said, I would like to introduce new faculty members.

• Julie Pickhaver will be the Assistant Principal.

• Mary Wheltle will be teaching the other 3rd grade

• Emma Ryan will be teaching the other 4th grade

• Maura McKenna will be teaching 5-8 Language Arts and Reading.  She will also be the sixth grade homeroom teacher.

• Andrew Staub will be teaching 5-8 science and the seventh grade homeroom teacher.

• Kimberly Wendling will be teaching 5-8 middle school math and fifth grade homeroom teacher.

We will have a meet and greet Thursday August 31st for all new students, parents and for anyone who wants to meet new faculty.
Another change for next year will be the school day on Thursday. We will be ending the day at 2 o’clock to have staff professional development.  It will allow us as a staff to collaborate with each other and make the best programs and curriculum for the students.  We will provide after school CARES from 2:15 to 3:15 free of charge for parents/guardians who cannot pick up until the regular school dismissal time.  After 3:15 any student not picked up will be charged the regular CARES rate of $9.00 for after school. Buses will leave on Thursday’s at 2:15.
Communication and involvement is extremely important to us at Saint Frances Cabrini. PLEASE be sure to look at the SFC webpage under for parent for the on-line handbook and other school information. Also, sign into Tads and make sure we have an updated email address for further communication.
As always please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.  My door is always open to all families.  I look forward to another wonderful school year.
Sincerely,  Mr. Bill Cascarina
